Due to the increasing demand of our Clients prestigious data collection centre in Central London an additional requirement for a 4th 4.3MVA Paxman Diesel Powered High Voltage generator set complete with exhaust flue and sound proof attenuation was installed in early 2007. At the same time the existing three sets where upgraded from 3.8MVA to 4.3MVA with new radiators and sound attenuation. This brought the capacity of the site up to 17.2MVA. The final requirement for the site is 21.5MVA and a 5th set will be required to achieve this.
In the interim to meet our clients business Disaster Recovery Plan DDSL proposed an engineering solution trailer mounted mobile standby diesel generators sets. The 2no standby diesel 2MVA generator set each housed in individual ISO 40ft container, specifically designed and built with access double door and sound proofed to 75dBA, mounted on BSI haulage trailer completed with step up transformer housed in ISO 10ft container.
This project was further complicated by the logistical and historical location of the installation which required precision design, installation and commissioning as well as environmental impact implications.
